With over 12 years advisory experience supporting schools in challenging circumstance, Darren Ellsum has a proven passion for improving outcomes for young people.

As a member of the senior school improvement team for The National Strategies, he was at the heart of developing the two most successful school improvement programmes of recent years The Improving Schools Programme (ISP) and Primary Stronger Management Systems (pSMS). His direct work with schools at home and overseas (British Forces) as Regional Adviser supported many leadership teams in moving their schools above national floor standards and out of Ofsted category - being deemed Good or many Outstanding.

Darren also has substantial experience of improving outcomes in primary mathematics through his role as Senior Maths Adviser for an inner London LA; strengthening subject knowledge and understanding of pedagogy and progression. Darren has also written a range of major publications and co-wrote & presented three award winning series for Teachers’ TV.

Through inspirational workshops and bespoke in-school consultancy, Darren’s approach is “hands-on”; working with schools on their agenda, coaching teachers and leaders to help them bring about change for themselves.
